I did my first surfing class with Paddle Cult in September 2023 x) Johnson was our instructor. He was extremely patient with us and considering the fact that I don’t know how to swim, he helped me feel very comfortable with those waves and the water. Their property is beautiful and the hosts are very very generous. They let us use their pool post sessions as well which was amazing! Varkala is my favourite place in the world and I would anyday choose paddle cult for the future surfing lessons :)

Paddle Cult is magical - you’re bound to fall in love! Blacky and Sebin are incredible at what they do - while surfing and outside of it! They’ll put your comfort as a guest first and ensure that everything goes smoothly at all times. It’s a place built with spirit and soul and so in touch with its roots that it is hard not to adore the vibe. The surf lessons are excellent. I’ve gone from someone terrified of stepping in open water to someone who can confidently pop-up in just a few lessons and that is testament to how patient and supportive Blacky and Sebin are. Once your surf lessons are over, relaxing in the hammock under the green covers of coconut trees or taking a dip in the lovely pool gives Paddle Cult all the plus points. If you’re looking to relax or surf in Varkala, this is the place to be!

Paddle Cult is absolutely beautiful! The cottages are spacious and the ambience is incredible. The rooms are great as well. The pool is always well maintained and we had a great time swimming daily! The resort crew is super friendly and as we visited this place during Onam, we got to eat a very tasty Onam sadhya (meal) which included a variety of dishes courtesy of the generous and kind staff. Our overall time here was very well spent and we will definitely be visiting again! Highly recommend for anyone traveling to Varkala!
